  New summer routes to Bergen
Finnair is launching a summer route Helsinki - Bergen on 22 May. This service will open for greater tourism from Asia, particularly Japan. Interest has also been shown in this service from America, Southern Europe and Finland. Flybe will be operating services from Kirkwall and Sumburgh from June to August. KLM and AirFrance have teamed up to offer four departures daily from Amsterdam and AirBaltic has increased its service to three departures a week from Riga. IcelandAir continue their summer routes.

Ulriken643 is reopening on 1 May 2009, after months of extensive renovation, including upgrading the cable car. But it is not only the cable car that has been upgraded. The new restaurant Sky:Skraperen has traditional Bergen fare on the menu, and the collaboration with Exin.no on activities will enable both locals and tourists to take greater advantage of the opportunities on offer on Mount Ulriken.

Experience an exciting seafood restaurant with a unique location on a small island just outside Bergen. The menu is inspired by the weather, the catch of the day and fresh seasonal ingredients. During the period 22 April to 19 September, boats depart from the centre of Bergen at 18.00 Monday to Saturday. From 1 July  to 15 August, a boat also departs at 11.00. Boats return from the restaurant to Bergen at 16.00 and 23.00.

VilVite’s new exhibition about shipping, ‘Skip & Hav’, consists of 30 different installations about ships, navigation, harbours and sea farers. Among other things, you can try your hand as an engineer or mate or move container loads in a harbour. The aim of the exhibition is to help spark interest in the shipping and maritime industry in society.

This summer, Bergen Aquarium is getting its own shark tunnel. The tunnel will be six metres long and will give visitors an opportunity to experience sharks and other fish close up. Construction is well underway and the work is scheduled to be completed by 1 June.

During summer, you can take part in guided walks on Mount Fløyen and learn about the local history and Norwegians’ love of walking. On certain days, you can also experience the play ‘Three kinds of fire’, which is an outdoor play that is performed in the evening. The play is in English and is about the big town fire of 1916.
